Your privacy on this website

This website is operated by Climate Action Network Southeast Asia (CANSEA), the regional node of Climate Action Network International. In this notice, “we” and “us” mean CANSEA. If you have a question about your data, you can reach us via our contact page.

We deliberately collect as little as possible.

• Website analytics. We measure how many people visit, which pages are popular, and roughly where in the world our readers are, so we can make the site more useful. We use two tools for this. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser, described in section 03 below. Vercel Analytics is cookieless and counts visits without storing anything on your device. We do not use either tool to advertise to you, and advertising features are switched off in our Google Analytics configuration.
• Basic server logs. Like virtually all websites, our hosting provider records standard technical information (such as IP address and browser type) to keep the site secure and running. These logs are kept only briefly.
• Information you choose to send us. If you contact us or apply for membership, we receive what you provide, typically your name, organisation, email address and message. We use it only to respond to you.

This website does not use advertising cookies, and nothing here is used to build an advertising profile or follow you around other websites.

We do set two Google Analytics cookies, named _ga and _ga_ followed by a short code. They tell us whether a visit is a returning one, so our visitor counts are not inflated. They hold a randomly generated number rather than anything about you personally, and they expire automatically after two years.

If you would rather not be counted, you have two straightforward options. You can install Google’s official browser opt-out add-on, which applies to every website you visit, or you can block or clear cookies for this site in your browser settings. Most browsers also offer a “do not track” or tracking-protection setting that blocks analytics of this kind. Nothing on this site stops working if you do any of these.

If you change your display preferences using the accessibility panel (text size, contrast, reduced motion), those choices are saved in your own browser’s local storage so the site remembers them on your next visit. That information stays on your device and is never sent to us.

Our website is hosted by Vercel, which processes the technical and aggregate data described above on our behalf and also provides our cookieless analytics. Our other analytics tool is Google Analytics, provided by Google, which means the data described in section 03 is processed by Google and may be stored outside your country. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. To make a request, contact the Secretariat. You can also clear the preferences this site has saved at any time by clearing your browser’s storage for this site.

This website is intended for a general and professional audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this notice as the website evolves, for example if we add a newsletter or contact form. When we do, we’ll change the “last updated” date above.
